Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Angola, Salem Ali Alshamsi, announced today, in Lubango, that his country is mobilizing investors to boost the tourism sector in Angola.

The diplomat expressed his intention at the end of a visit to the site of the Nossa Senhora do Monte High Performance Sports project, as well as Tundavala, presented by the Government of Huíla, as priority areas for investment.

Salem Ali Alshamsi said that his country has been promoting tourism since 1980 and has achieved self-sufficiency in revenue, leaving oil in the background, an experience that can help Angola.

“If the Government shows interest in cooperating with the UAE, in the tourism sector we are open to support, exchange know-how and bring investors to Angola”, he reinforced.

He considered that the Angolan Government must look at other sectors to be able to boost tourism, such as support infrastructures, “more and better travel packages on airlines”, access routes and the entire chain that helps to promote tourism. sector.

Regarding bilateral relations with Angola, he said that “they are strong”, as in addition to the presence of UAE companies in the aviation, port area, agriculture, construction and energy, the latter with a project in Huíla, can move forward with other initiatives.

As I said, in 2023 alone, your country’s investment in Angola was 2.9 billion dollars.

The ambassador who is on a two-day visit to Huíla, in addition to the courtesy meeting with the Government of Huíla, was at the tourist and sports complex of Nossa Senhora do Monte, at Miradouro da Leba, at Fenda da Tundavala, at Fábrica Preciosa, as well as at Hiper-máquinas Angola facilities.

A dinner with business associations is planned thursday and on Friday a visit to the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Huíla and the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University.
