UAE President Highlights Positive Relations with Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, highlighted on Monday, in Luanda, the positive development of bilateral relations within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at the Presidential Palace, after a private meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, as part of a 48-hour official visit to Angola, the UAE Head of State congratulated the Angolan people on the 50th anniversary of national independence, to be celebrated Nov 11th.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed emphasized that relations between Angola and the UAE have seen continuous development, particularly in the areas of investment and non-oil trade.

According to the statesman, the volume of non-oil trade exchange reached $2.17 billion in 2024, representing a growth of more than 36% compared to 2019.

The UAE leader also highlighted his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Angola in strategic areas such as energy, technology, agriculture, food security, and logistics services, highlighting the already significant presence of Emirati companies operating in the Angolan market.

Regarding the agreement signed in Luanda, he mentioned that the legal instrument will represent a significant transformation in economic relations between the two countries, expanding trade and investment horizons and creating a new phase of joint economic growth.

The UAE President also emphasized the convergence of visions between Abu Dhabi and Luanda regarding sustainable development and the well-being of their people, reiterating his country’s willingness to support partnerships for shared growth.

Angola’s A.U Leadership

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed also highlighted Angola’s role as chairman of the African Union (AU), considering that João Lourenço’s term will have a profound impact on promoting peace and reconciliation on the continent.

He also recalled the title awarded by the AU to the Angolan Head of State as “Champion of Peace and Reconciliation,” calling it fair recognition of Angola’s efforts to promote stability on the continent.

According to Bin Zayed, the United Arab Emirates maintains a strategic focus on strengthening development partnerships with Africa, supporting all initiatives that promote stability and progress on the continent.

The ceremony at the Presidential Palace concluded with the signing of several legal instruments.
