Africa-Press – Angola. Investors from the Republic of Uganda have expressed their interest in investing in the livestock sector, in Cuanza Norte province, said Thursday the country’s ambassador to Angola, Julius Chihandae.

The diplomat expressed this intention during a meeting he held with the authorities of the province, where he traveled to find out about possible areas of bilateral cooperation and investments.

Within the framework of this intention, the Diplomatic Mission and members of the Ugandan Diplomatic Mission advance in the search for information and feasibility studies in the areas to be invested.

On the occasion, the minister counselor at the embassy, ​​Ruben Byereta, referred that businessmen in Uganda showed interest in investing in the production of animals and then expanding into the fisheries sector.

The vice-governor of the province for the Economic, Political and Social sector, Luzia Sebastião, said that the province is open to foreign investment in all sectors, to boost the economy, provide better quality of life for the population and promote employment for the young people.

At the meeting, which preceded visits to some farms, the provincial director of Agriculture, Manuel Fernandes, highlighted the agricultural potential of the region, which is open to investment.

The director of the Provincial Office for Economic Development, Humberto Mesquita, highlighted the advantages of foreign investment for the development of the region.

He made reference to the Private Investment and Land Laws and the advantages for investors, having expressed his intention to cooperate with Uganda in sectors in which the country has vast experience, such as coffee production and tourism, based on conservation and fauna preservation.

During the meeting, the Ugandan delegation also watched a video that depicts the economic potential of the province, with emphasis on natural resources.

The province of Cuanza Norte was the second potential coffee producer in the country and, in addition to arable land, the soil is rich in minerals, such as manganese, iron, marble and gold.

The Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. Its diverse landscape includes the snow-capped Ruwenzori Mountains and the immense Lake Victoria.
