Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the executive committee of the National Union of Visual Artists (UNAP), Rosário Matias, defended this Monday, in Luanda, the need to create public policies that encourage a taste for visual arts, with a view to developing the “fine arts” in Angola.
According to Rosário Matias, in the context of the 50th anniversary of national independence, to be celebrated on 11 November, the materialization of these policies can catapult the visual arts in Angola.
She stressed that during these 50 years, Angola has achieved visible gains in this sector, having highlighted the growing number of creators and the quality of the works.
She considered support in this area to be crucial, not only from the Executive, but also from the private sector.
For example, she continued, those who want to support can obtain fiscal and financial compensation, as well as image and reputation compensation.
According to Rosário Matias, when culture is placed in third place, the essence of a people is weakened.
Rosário Matias said that the Government needs to pay more attention to the visual arts through the General State Budget (OGE).
She added that in order to boost the arts at a national level, UNAP has been looking at the areas or provinces where there is critical material in this sector to work on, as well as ensuring creative human capital within the institution’s strategic vision.
The Independence of Angola was proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by the nationalist António Agostinho Neto, who subsequently became the first President of the Republic.
