According to a note from the institution, distributed this Sunday, he also encouraged young people to become active agents in promoting peace and global citizenship.
On the occasion, he recalled the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, reaffirming UNESCO’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with ASA, which has existed since 2019, through initiatives such as International Jazz Day and the Luanda Biennial – Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace.
In turn, the executive director of ASA, Marcos Agostinho, thanked the UNESCO representative for his presence and highlighted the impact of ResiliArt Angola, a social project that empowers artists and promotes creativity as a tool for intercultural dialogue and human development.
United Nations Day, celebrated annually in October, marks the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations in 1945 and reaffirms the universal values of peace, cooperation and friendship among the 193 member states, including Angola.
Dozens of students of various nationalities participated in the event, which included debates on the role of the UN in preserving world peace, a cultural parade representing the member countries of the United Nations and a gastronomic exhibition inspired by the traditions of the five continents.
