Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Parliamentary Group of Unita, Liberty Tchiyaka defended, in Lubango, the need for his party to work with the Government, to contribute to a more participatory and transparent governance, aiming to contribute to the improvement of the population’s quality of life.
The also coordinator of that party’s accompanying group in Huíla was speaking on the sidelines of the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Provincial Committee of the Party held, on Friday, under the motto: “UNITA, proximity, mobilization and growth” which brings together 200 delegates from the 14 municipalities from the province of Huila.
For the politician, the perspective of a work of proximity between the party and the government and society enhances social, economic and cultural development, in a period in which important and decisive reforms are being experienced in the country in all sectors of life.
He suggested that one of the systems that the government relies on is providing multiple opportunities, government and political parties, in order to help serve the citizens, as it allows ensuring greater rapprochement between rulers and ruled, as well as guaranteeing broad participation of the population in political power, with emphasis on local authorities.
In turn, the provincial secretary of UNITA, in Huíla, Augusto Samuel, underlined that the meeting takes place at a time when there is a need to reflect on the implementation of strengthening the party in view of the holding of local elections.
On the occasion, he asked the militants to be guided by the statutes of the parties and avoid going into possible cases of violence.
