Wendy Sherman emphasized that the construction of democracy allows the country to be better and stronger. “We encourage Angola to continue on this path of reforms”, he observed, noting that the United States continues to have the country as a strategic partner and friend, “which is why we will continue to strengthen the our bilateral cooperation”.

In this regard, the US Assistant Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, praised the work carried out by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and by the Angolan ambassador to the United States, Joaquim do Espírito Santo, for allowing the strengthening of relations between Angola and the United States, especially in the field of maritime safety, renewable energy and public health. According to Wendy Sherman, priority issues on the government’s agenda, such as the holding of the next general elections, scheduled for August, the ongoing reforms, as well as all the measures being implemented in the country, were also addressed during the meeting with the President.

“The meeting with the President of the Republic made it possible to address a wide range of subjects, with emphasis on business, fundamentally in the sectors in which Angola wants to see North American investment grow”, said the diplomat.
