Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Vietnam, Luong Cuong, on Thursday praised Angola’s role in leading the African Union (AU), as well as its initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability on the African continent.

In statements to the press following his meeting with the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, President Luong Cuong called for Angola’s continued attention to ensuring security, creating favorable

conditions, and ensuring a stable environment for the Vietnamese community and companies working and investing in Angola.

The Vietnamese leader promised that the two countries will work to effectively implement existing mechanisms and consider creating technical subcommittees in areas of common interest under the initialled instruments.

He announced that the two countries agree to facilitate the successful exchange of products with comparative advantages in their respective markets, promoting investment opportunities and creating a favorable environment for the participation of Angolan and Vietnamese companies in agriculture, oil, technology, and information projects, among others.

According to the statesman, in addition to continuing to strengthen traditional cooperation, such as education, information, health, and agriculture, the two parties expressed interest in expanding their partnership in areas such as defense, technology and information, science and technology, digital transition, and green transition.

He added that it was agreed to intensify coordination and share positions on regional and international issues in forums such as the African Union, ASEAN, the United Nations, and the Non-Allied Movement.

President Luong Cuong reiterated support for peaceful solutions to various conflicts, based on respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, rejecting the threat of the use of force. He also welcomed the signing of several legal instruments for cooperation between ministries, in areas such as security, justice, communications, trade, and oil, among others.

He highlighted the positive results achieved in the bilateral meetings, urging the ministers and relevant entities to promptly implement the agreements signed and the strategic guidelines defined by the heads of state, in order to further deepen the partnership, develop and transform the Vietnam-Angola relationship into an exemplary model of South-South cooperation, serving the interests and benefits of the peoples.
