World Bank Disburses USD 10 Million for Cabinda Upgrade

Africa-Press – Angola. The World Bank has allocated 10 million USD to upgrade drinking water supply systems in Cabinda province’s 10 municipalities, located in northern Angola.

Ruth Saraiva, representative of the CPCS, TPF, and AVL consortium, disclosed the information Monday to members of the Cabinda province’s consultation and social concertation council.

Saraiva explained that the project currently consists of presenting environmental and social impact studies. Afterwards, the public tender for awarding contracts will be launched.

The project aims to upgrade, expand, and modernize the systems for collecting, treating, and distributing drinking water in the region’s municipalities to meet the population’s demand.

Francisco Chimbavo, the Vice-Governor of Cabinda for the economic sector, reaffirmed the local government’s institutional support for implementing the project as quickly as possible.

He acknowledged that implementing this project, which is open for public consultation throughout the province, will provide more drinking water to the region’s inhabitants, even in remote areas.

The province of Cabinda has an estimated population of over 800,000, distributed across ten municipalities.
