Africa-Press – Angola. The Consul of the Republic of Zambia in Moxico, Boniface Mussumari, advocated this Saturday in Luena for strengthening cooperation with Angola in the areas of agriculture and energy to stimulate the economies of both countries.
The consul, speaking at the celebration of the 610th anniversary of that country’s independence, celebrated on October 24th, said that the development of both countries depends on the concrete intensification of relations in these areas, and “both governments must continue working to achieve this feat.”Furthermore, the diplomat stated that his country will continue to work to be an example of harmony and peace, in addition to continuing to promote the integration of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) states.
The consul also emphasized that the Angolan government is working to achieve the goal of connecting the two countries by rail, an action, according to the diploma, that could significantly develop both countries, boost regional trade, and attract new investments.
In turn, Elizabeth Ayala, Deputy Governor of Moxico for Political, Economic, and Social Affairs, said that the country, and in particular the authorities of Moxico province, will work to maintain cooperation, cross-border trade, energy, education, and other economic activities between the two nations.
The Republic of Zambia proclaimed its independence on October 24, 1964. This African country was colonized by the United Kingdom and was known during the colonial period as Northern Rhodesia.The territory was initially administered by the British South Africa Company and later directly by the British government.
