Africa-Press – Botswana. Air Botswana has announced a new partnership with local dairy company, Dream Flavours, as part of its strategic support for the #PushaBW initiative that places special emphasis on promoting local brands.

The partnership will see Dream Flavours yoghurt products forming part of the in-flight culinary servings alongside a host of other local products on the airline’s offerings.

The deal was announced by Air Botswana (AB) in a brief statement recently.

#PushaBW

The airline revealed that the partnership is in line with its drive to empower local companies through product placement that will introduce their brands to regional and continental clientele.

“As part of our mission to support local businesses and #PushaBW, Air Botswana is proud to partner with Dream Flavours, a local yoghurt producer using Botswana’s indigenous fruits to create delicious yoghurt,” said the AB statement.

“Now served in-flight, the flavours of lerotse, morula and motoroko offer you a true taste of Nature’s gift while empowering citizen entrepreneurs.”

The quintet

Dream Flavours was formed by a group of five Batswana women in 2009 after identifying gaps in the local market. The collective is made up of Chedza Nkhwa, Kelebogile Majaye, Lilian Kheba, Margret Kgosi and Litah Malejane.

The quintet took advantage of the fact that no other dairy company captured the essence of Botswana’s indigenous fruits to make a culinary product that represents Botswana in its true form.

The company has an array of yoghurt flavours with a special focus on exotic and indigenous fruits to form a unique taste.

Retail success

The flavours include lerotse, morula, motoroko, mmilo, motlopi, motsentsela, moretologa and mogorogorwane which all capture a uniquely local taste.

Their dairy company also produces ice pops, milk and fruit juices. Since the company’s inception, its products have been well received in the local market with stores such as Food Lover’s Market, Mr Veg, Sefalana, Choppies and hotels like the Grand Palm Hotel as well as Oasis Motel among its customers.

The retail market penetration has resulted in considerable product visibility, which has ultimately caught the attention of Air Botswana.
