Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Boko is in Cape Town, South Africa for the African Union-Continental African Water Investment Summit.
According to a press release from the Office of the President, the President is participating at the Summit in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Global Water Changemakers Awards where he presented the 2025 Presidential Global Water Changemakers Awards to six Heads of State and Government in recognition of their contributions to water investment matters.
The initiative recognises global leaders who demonstrate commitment and leadership in advancing climate resilient water investments and promoting investment to support a more water secure world.
The summit, which started from August 13 to 15, is hosted by South Africa in partnership with the African Union Commission, the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme, the AU-AIP High-level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, and the African Union Development Agency.
Held under the theme: Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability, the summit has brought together African Heads of State, government ministers, investors and global leaders from the private sector and development institutions.
The release says the meeting will deliberate on Africa’s pressing water security and infrastructure issues, including water investment priorities, sanitation services, cross border water governance systems and climate resilience.
President Boko is accompanied by Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Mr Onneetse Ramogapi and senior government officials.
