Africa-Press – Botswana. A memorial service for the late Clever Hunda was held at Lekidi Centre.
Hunda, who passed away in Zimbabwe two weeks ago, had a lengthy coaching career in Botswana. He moved from his native country in 1986 after being recruited by Police XI and has held coaching roles at Uniao Flamengo Santos, Prisons XI, Notwane, Extension Gunners, Gilport Lions, and BDF XI. One of the organisers of today’s service, Daniel ‘Chico’ Nare said the event has been put together by Hunda’s former social club, Emwale in Lobatse in conjunction with Police IX and his former players called the ‘Hunda Appreciation Group’. “This is the group that gathered at the iTowers in 2022 for a gala lunch and donated some cash to fix his vehicle and for his upkeep as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for shaping our careers,” Nare said. The group is made up of players from Police XI, BMC, and Prisons XI with some officials from Santos.
