Africa-Press – Burkina Faso. The Center-West region launched the third edition of Burkinabe Heritage Month in Koudougou on Friday. The event featured the broadcast of the message delivered the day before by the President of the Transition, Ibrahim Traoré, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
Held at the Governorate Square, the opening ceremony was attended by key figures from the region. Two highlights marked the launch: the raising of the national flag at 7:30 a.m., followed by a speech by the interim governor, Adama Jean Yves Béré.
In his speech, the governor recalled that Heritage Month, established in April 2023, aims to strengthen the sense of national identity through the promotion of cultural heritage.
He then relayed the message from the Head of State, focusing on the theme of « Cultural Heritage and Economic Development », chosen for the 2025 edition.
In this message, President Traoré called on the people of Burkina Faso to embrace their cultural heritage and make it a foundation for national unity and development.
He stressed the importance of preserving traditions, knowledge and places of memory, while inviting the media and intellectuals to become more involved in this dynamic.
The interim governor, for his part, urged residents of the Centre-West to actively participate in the planned activities, including conferences on domestic tourism, the wearing of traditional Koko Dunda and Faso Dan Fani outfits in government offices, a sanitation day and tourist excursions.
This heritage month is intended to be a time to promote local cultural riches and a lever for sustainable economic development.
