Africa-Press – Cape verde. Colonel Mário Elísio Aguiar, born in Praia, died this Wednesday, 15th, in Lisbon, Portugal, where he was undergoing treatment.
The news was confirmed by his wife Bela Aguiar, to his friend and journalist Luís Carvalho.
According to the same, Colonel Elísio Aguiar ended up dying at the Garcia Orta Hospital, Lisbon, practically at the moment he was being transferred to the Santa Maria Hospital, where he was being followed by specialists.
“Mário Aguiar was a champion of the island of Santiago and Praia, his birthplace. He was also a critical voice in relation to the behavior of journalists and, when I tried to explain to him that things were not always the way he interpreted them, he came out with this: “I understand. You have to defend your colleagues”, recalls Luís Carvalho.
Mário Elísio Aguiar was Colonel of the Armed Forces of Cape Verde in retirement. On social networks, several messages of condolences begin to appear.
