Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Center for Art, Crafts and Design (CNAD) will host the presentation of the book “My Unforgettable Types. Stories”, by João Lopes Filho, with Daniel Medina and Germano Almeida, on Tuesday.
According to the author, who is a professor and researcher, the book contains stories from his childhood and his rural life on the island of São Nicolau, as reported by Inforpress.
He explained that the stories arise from his imagination and the reality he lived and are transposed into fiction through characters such as midwives, storytellers, healers, and visitors, as well as through actions, experiences, feelings, and aspects of the local culture.
According to the book’s synopsis, it is a work of fiction with a strong sociological bent, where the author, in a journey to his childhood and youth, reworks, in his own words, experiences and old stories heard, remembered, and reinvented, combining the imaginary with abstractions constructed from recovered fragments.
According to the writer Dina Salústio, who wrote the preface, João Lopes Filho’s book enriches his writing journey, delving into people’s lives, the secrets of small towns and cities alike, revealing the intrigues and memories of characters like Donato.
