Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Platform of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of Cape Verde is promoting the first National Meeting of Civil Society, from April 6th to 8th, in the city of Praia.

The meeting, under the motto “The strength of civil society in building development,” according to a press release accessed by Inforpress, aims to strengthen civil society, promote dialogue between various actors, and initiate the process of developing the Strategic Plan for the Third Sector 2026–2028.

According to the same source, the three-day initiative includes events such as the Strategic Dialogue “A New Pact for Strengthening Cape Verdean Civil Society,” followed by the signing of partnership protocols and networking sessions.

The program also includes panels that will address several central themes for the future of civil society, including the role of organizations in consolidating participatory democracy.

Financing, social innovation and cooperation, social inclusion and sustainable development, promotion and defense of human rights, and the active participation of civil society in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are some of the other planned panels.

The opening of this event, promoted by the Platform of Non-Governmental Organizations of Cape Verde in partnership with the United Nations, through the PRO-PALOP program, will be presided over by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, at the University of Cape Verde.
