Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government, through the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, will hold this Tuesday, the 20th, the inauguration of the new delegation and the inauguration of the delegate of the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT) in Boa Vista.
According to a press release sent to Iforpress, the inauguration ceremony of the new IGT delegate on the island is scheduled for 9:00 am, in the auditorium of the local secondary school, and the event will be presided over by Minister Fernando Elísio Freire, head of the Labor and Social Security portfolio.
The same source indicated that next, at 10:30 am, the official inauguration of the facilities of the IGT Boa Vista Delegation will take place, located in the building next to the Shell station, in Sal Rei.
The infrastructure, according to the note, aims to provide “greater proximity” between the IGT and the island’s labor agents, reinforce the capacity for inspection, mediate and promote “good practices” in the work environment.
The IGT, as a central service of the State Administration, has the mission of ensuring compliance with legislation relating to labor relations and conditions, as well as the system of protection of employment and unemployment of workers.
It has administrative autonomy and is integrated into the government department responsible for Labor Administration.
The same note informs that the creation of this delegation in Boa Vista appears as “a crucial step” to consolidate the national coverage of the IGT and guarantee “more effective” action in safeguarding workers’ rights and monitoring employers’ responsibilities.
IGT now has a physical presence in Boa Vista, complementing its headquarters in Praia and the existing delegations in São Vicente and Sal.
This action is part of the Government’s strategy to strengthen social and labor protection, promote decent work and ensure greater decentralization of public services with a direct impact on citizens’ lives.
