Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Baptista de Sousa Hospital (HBS), in São Vicente, announced today that it will receive, until Friday, the 18th medical mission in neuropediatrics, coming from Portugal, for clinical sessions and consultations in children with neurological difficulties.

According to the same source, this medical mission takes place within the scope of cooperation between Cape Verde and Portugal.

“The 18th mission consolidates the existing collaboration between medical teams and aims to carry out consultations for children with neurological difficulties, a significant number of meetings and clinical sessions with local health professionals, from specific areas of Neuropediatrics such as Epilepsy, Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy, among others”, highlighted the HBS.

The program also includes a clinical session on the theme “Children with neuromotor diseases in Cape Verde – Reality and challenges for physiotherapy”, carried out by the physiotherapist of the Centro Materno Infantil do Norte, Porto (Portugal), Mónica Duarte.

The objective, he added, is to train local professionals and promote health literacy in the community.

The 18th medical mission in Neuropediatrics is made up of a multidisciplinary team, including three neuropediatric doctors, a nurse specializing in pediatrics/neuropediatrics and a first-class physiotherapist.

In turn, the HBS team includes a neuropediatrician, two pediatricians, two general practitioners, a physiotherapist, two speech therapists, a nurse, and several professionals from the health structures of São Vicente and Santo Antão.
