Brava Government Announces New Start for Island Development

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, speaking on Monday in Brava, advocated for “working hand in hand” between the public and private sectors to boost structural development and a “new start” for the island.

In a meeting that brought together residents, economic operators, and the local government, the head of the executive branch, who has been on the island since Saturday accompanied by a government delegation, stressed the importance of resilience and cooperation between central and local government to overcome problems “inherited from the past.”

Ulisses Correia e Silva assured that the Government is committed to building a future that reinforces the pride of Brava’s inhabitants, both residents and those in the diaspora, through commitments that address the “real problems” affecting the island.

“The development of Brava requires that entrepreneurs, the private sector, and the public sector work hand in hand,” said the Prime Minister, guaranteeing that residents can count on a strong partnership between institutions to modernize the island.

Representing economic operators, Daniel Tavares described the meeting as “extremely important,” highlighting the opportunity to directly present the sector’s difficulties and dissatisfaction to the ministers present.

“Issues from various sectors were addressed, and we had the opportunity to express our problems and dissatisfaction, considering that the island needs a helping hand from the Government,” he stated.

The spokesperson expressed confidence in the seriousness of the current executive branch, requesting a “helping hand” from the State to fulfill the commitments made and guarantee the sustainable development of Brava Island.

The Prime Minister concludes his four-day official visit to Brava this Tuesday, marked by the signing of protocols and the inspection of infrastructure projects for the island’s development.

The trip, which began on Saturday, included an intense agenda of direct contact with the population and economic and cultural agents, aiming to reinforce the central government’s proximity to the local dynamics of the municipality.

Beyond the institutional aspect, with the signing of program contracts with the city hall, the visit served for the head of government to monitor the progress of infrastructure considered vital for the economy and quality of life in Brava.
