Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean Olympic Academy (AOC) submitted its application on Tuesday for the 66th International Session of Young Olympic Ambassadors, which will take place in Greece from June 7th to 19th.

According to the president of the Cape Verdean Olympic Academy, Orlando Mascarenhas, speaking to Inforpress, the competition is aimed at young Cape Verdeans aged between 20 and 30 years old.

According to Orlando Mascarenhas, this event is integrated into the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee (COC) and, within the scope of its annual program of activities, participation in this international session is an initiative that Cape Verde is undertaking, taking advantage of the opportunity granted by the International Olympic Academy (IOA).

This year’s edition will take place in Athens, Greece, bringing together young people linked to Olympic sport and education from various continents, namely Africa, Europe, America and Asia.

“The general rule of the competition is that young people must be involved in sports activities, namely with federations, associations, and clubs, to be eligible to apply,” said Orlando Mascarenhas.

According to him, the session provides a valuable formative experience, allowing participants to learn about Olympic heritage and the historical manifestations of Olympism.

“These young people, who participate, return to the country with an important body of knowledge and become considered Olympic ambassadors for Cape Verde, also having the mission of working with schools and youth, transmitting Olympic values,” he explained.

The same source guaranteed that, regarding financial support, participation is fully covered by Olympic Solidarity, implying no cost to the selected young person.

The scholarship granted fully covers expenses for transportation, airfare, accommodation, food, lodging, and activities foreseen in the program.

Regarding the number of places available, the president of the Olympic Committee clarified that only one place is available for Cape Verde, since the funding covers only one participant.

As for the candidate profile, the president informed that there is no specific requirement in terms of academic background, but one of the fundamental requirements is fluency in English or French, as the event will be broadcast in these languages ​​in addition to Greek.

Finally, the president of the Academy added that applications should be submitted directly to the Cape Verdean Olympic Academy, the entity promoting the process.
