Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde and Morocco will prepare a military cooperation agreement, the defense ministers of the two countries announced during a meeting held on Friday in Rabat.
“Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration and announced plans to finalize and sign a military cooperation agreement in the near future,” reflecting “the strong friendship” and “mutual respect,” according to a statement from the Moroccan defense administration, quoted today by the country’s press.
The two leaders analyzed “current areas of cooperation” and explored “new opportunities,” with a focus on exchanging military experiences, the statement concluded.
Cape Verde’s Minister of Defence, Janine Lelis, is on a three-day official visit to Morocco, which began with a meeting with the Moroccan Minister responsible for defence, Abdeltif Loudyi, accompanied by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone. Loudyi positioned Morocco’s policy as an attempt to “promote regional stability and security”, benefiting “all countries in the Atlantic and Sahel regions”. The Cape Verdean delegation in Morocco includes the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Rear Admiral António Monteiro, and the National Director of Defence, Maurino Évora.
