Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verde national handball team is in pot three for the 2027 World Championship draw, scheduled for June 10th in Munich, Germany, the International Handball Federation (IHF) announced this Tuesday, the 10th.

Pot three, in addition to Cape Verde, will have two European teams as seeded teams, as well as Brazil, Bahrain, Tunisia, Chile, and the winner of the North American and Caribbean championship.

The draw for the final phase of the tournament, which will be played between January 13th and 31st, 2027, is scheduled for June 10th in Munich, Germany.

The governing body of world handball announced the composition of the pots, although the final draw is not yet complete, with 13 of the 32 places still to be filled.

Pot one includes the national teams of Portugal, Denmark, Germany, Croatia, Iceland, Sweden, Egypt, and Argentina.

Pot two will consist exclusively of European teams, while pot three will guarantee two European teams as seeded teams, in addition to Brazil, Bahrain, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Chile, and the winner of the North American and Caribbean championships.

Pot four will include Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, Algeria, Angola, Uruguay, and two invited teams.

According to the IHF Competition Regulations, the organizer has the right to assign teams to groups, so in the first phase, Germany already knows it will be in Group A in Munich.

Denmark, which won the European Championship for the third time in Herning on February 1st, will play in Group G in Kiel, “taking advantage of the city’s proximity to the Danish border to attract as many fans as possible” from that country.

The preliminary round matches are scheduled so that each team has at least one day of rest between games, thus ensuring that no team plays on consecutive days, in order to “preserve the health and performance of the players”.
