CV Interilhas Reports Alex Évora for Defamation

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The government announced this Friday that Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva filed a police report with the Attorney General’s Office against a citizen identified as Alex Évora for slanderous accusations and defamation.

A post on the Prime Minister’s official page explains that the complaint stems from the individual making accusations against the Chief Executive regarding the CV Interilhas case.

The citizen, who is the administrator of the Facebook page ALEX EVORA GREEN ARTS, allegedly accused the Prime Minister of being a majority shareholder in CV Interilhas.

According to the government, Alex Évora, a resident of the United States of America, published and circulated on social media a video in which he made these statements and attributed this alleged fact to the government’s actions in “not wanting transportation in Cape Verde,” or even preventing emigrants from investing in maritime transportation.

“He also stated that subsidies and other financial support were granted to CV Interilhas that benefited Ulisses Correia e Silva, as the alleged ‘majority shareholder’ of that company,” the government statement read.

The Prime Minister described the act as a “slanderous and defamatory accusation against him” as a government official.

The statement emphasized that the alleged acts “seriously, intensely, and intentionally” affect the reputation, honor, and image of the Prime Minister and the Government.

“However, he cannot, in good conscience, condone accusations of this kind, given their gravity. Indeed, it is everyone’s inalienable duty to combat this type of behavior, whose sole purpose is gratuitous character assassination in public,” the government said in the statement.

The statement affirms that given the “malice and affront,” the defendant must answer in court for the “dishonor and moral suffering” caused.
