Africa-Press – Cape verde. The seven Executive Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), who visited Cape Verde on a high-level mission, were satisfied with the partnership with the country, the results obtained and the level of implementation of the projects.

The seven Executive Directors of the African Development Bank Group who recently completed a one-week high-level mission to Cape Verde are very satisfied with the gains that the country has achieved, even assuring that the country is a success story.

According to a press release sent to our editorial office, Ahmed Zayed, spokesperson for the delegation, states that the group came to Cape Verde to see a “success story and left with an inspiring story”.

During the visit, various issues were discussed with government authorities, as well as with the private sector and civil society regarding the development of Cape Verde.

Topics such as the socio-economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the increase in raw material prices due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the drought that has lasted since 2017, the energy transition, improving the business environment to attract more investment than private sector or digital transformation and job creation for young people were points on the work agenda.

Analysis of projects financed by the ADB

With regard to the portfolio of the African Development Bank and the areas of intervention in Cape Verde, the various parties analyzed almost all the projects approved, executed or in execution, such as the Expansion and Modernization Project of the Ports of Maio and Palmeira, the Private Sector Competitiveness and Local Economic Development Project.

In addition to the Covid-19 Rapid Response Mechanism, the Electronic Government and Public Administration Modernization Program (Phase I and II), the Project to Support the Evaluation of the Purchasing System and the Project to Implement Electronic Purchasing, as well as the Cape Verde Technology Park (Phase I and II).

It should be remembered that the week-long visit was marked by a series of meetings and field visits to assess the Bank’s work in the country and better understand its development prospects.
