Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, Filomena Fortes, has been appointed to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Working Group, responsible for evaluating the relevance of the YOG and selecting the host country.
Filomena Fortes, who is already a member of the Selection Committee for the Olympic Games, explained that four new working groups have been created to manage the 2030 Youth Games.
Speaking to Inforpress, she expressed her pleasure at the trust placed in her work, emphasizing the sense of responsibility that the new role brings.
“It’s a responsibility, obviously, but we also need to understand that it’s not a solitary job, it’s a team effort. We currently have eight people in the group, and therefore, it’s our responsibility to work together with the IOC Executive Board to provide the best possible input,” she said.
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are a multicultural sporting event that brings together young athletes from around the world, ages 15 to 18, to compete in various Olympic sports.
The YOG are held every four years, alternating between Summer and Winter Games, and aim to promote Olympic values and sports education among young people.
