Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Siacsa delegate in São Vicente, Heidy Ganeto, said today that the municipal firefighters of São Vicente will begin a strike from August 14th to 18th, during the Baía das Gatas festival.
In an interview with Inforpress, Heidy Ganeto, delegate of the Industry, Agriculture, Commerce, and Related Industries Union (Siacsa), explained that the firefighters’ strike notice was delivered to the General Labor Secretariat, along with the strike announcement by gravediggers and lifeguards, who are also facing labor problems.
According to the same source, the firefighters are demanding that the City Hall comply with the agreement signed between the union and the city hall on August 5th, 2024.
“The document had 10 pending issues, and the city hall only complied with the salary scale update,” argued the same source, adding that the firefighters are still demanding the risk allowance.
Regarding the lifeguards, the union leader explained that they are asking for a salary increase of R$25,000 to R$30,000, a 25 percent allowance of their base salary, and work materials.
While the gravediggers who work at the municipal cemetery are demanding a salary increase of R$19,000 to R$25,000, a 25 percent allowance, and even equipment appropriate for their work.
