Hélio Batalha’s conscious and powerful rap will echo throughout the 41st edition of the Baía das Gatas Festival, taking place from August 14th to 17th on the island of São Vicente. The information was announced on Wednesday, the 6th, by the festival organizers on social media.
This is the second time the beach rapper has taken the stage at the Baía das Gatas Festival; his first performance at this event was in 2016.
According to the organizers, Hélio Batalha will perform on August 16th and promises a show that goes far beyond music.
Born in Praia, in the Ponta de Água neighborhood, Hélio is one of the biggest names in Cape Verdean hip-hop and an active voice in the fight against social injustice. Raised in a humble family, she faced significant challenges from an early age and turned her story into inspiration.
Honored as New Artist and Best Hip-Hop Artist at the 2016 CVMA Awards, and Best Hip-Hop and Music Personality of the Year at Somos Cabo Verde 2017, Hélio has accumulated awards and performed both domestically and internationally.
His career includes albums such as “Karta D’Alforia,” the EP “ANA,” and hits like “Cima nu sta nu ka podi fica,” “Minina d’Sombento,” and the recent “Dexam Bua,” which has already surpassed 1.3 million views on YouTube.
This edition has already confirmed the artists Mark Delman, Tito Paris, Garry, and Julian Ricardo Marley.
