Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Health, Jorge Figueiredo, announced today that the project for the new Praia Health Department, in Achada Santo António, is out to tender and that, on Monday, a temporary diagnostic center will be installed in Prainha.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of a visit by Minister Jorge Figueiredo to the police station and health centers in the city of Praia, as part of the strategy of managing proximity to health services.
In an interview with the press, the minister explained that the construction of the new police station is already out to tender and that, until the works are completed, a temporary Diagnostic Center will be installed to reinforce services in the capital of São Paulo.
“The project for the new police station is already out to tender and on Monday afternoon I will contact the minister responsible for the works so that the project can be accelerated and we can quickly lay the first stones for the Health Station and the Diagnostic Center, so that anyone visiting the capital city can have better access to healthcare,” he said.
Jorge Figueiredo also assured the press that the Diagnostic Center, in the Prainha neighborhood, will start operating soon, serving as an alternative until the completion of its definitive structure, which is part of the new Health Department, in Achada Santo Antônio.
Regarding interventions in Health Centers, the governor stated that there is special concern with the rehabilitation of the Fazenda Health Center, as it is a central unit in the city of Praia.
The Achadinha Health Center, he explained, is in the public bidding phase for the start of works.
“The Health Centers will have their own opening hours and some of them will probably respond to the demand in Praia, particularly in terms of complementing the Emergency Department, allowing a reduction in pressure on this service,” he added.
The governor concluded by stating that all healthcare structures in the capital are working together to improve the quality of care provided to the population.
