Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Secretary of State Assistant to the Prime Minister said today that the media plays a “strategic role” in promoting gender equality in Cabo Verde.
Lourenço Lopes made these statements at the opening of the workshop on the topic “Importance of communication in promoting gender equality”, promoted by the Cape Verdean Association for the Combat Against Gender-Based Violence (ACLCVBG), within the scope of the V Week of Reflection on Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The government official, in his speech, highlighted the gains that Cabo Verde has achieved in terms of promoting and guaranteeing gender equality, considering, however, that, despite the results, there is still a need for continuous and daily work by all in meeting the objectives.
“The Media professionals assume themselves as one of the main mediators between public authorities, social organizations and society itself, the media are assuming an increasingly central role in people’s lives and in the formation of public opinion, especially in these times” , he declared.
