Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government publicly launched the Electronic Self-Invoicing system today. The initiative aims to offer support to small suppliers, especially those who lack the organizational structure to issue electronic invoices.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the launch event, the National Director of State Revenue, Liza Vaz, explained that the Electronic Self-Invoicing system is a support arm to E-Fatura, a complement to make the process more accessible and efficient. electronic invoicing.
“Initially, the idea was to develop a tool that supported taxpayers with less digital literacy”, he added.
The director emphasized that self-invoicing arises as a response to the needs of small suppliers, especially those who do not yet have an organizational structure to issue electronic invoices.
“We are talking about well-identified suppliers, essentially small suppliers of vegetables and fish, who are still in a transitional phase of formality”, explained Vaz.
One of the main objectives of self-invoicing is to reduce economic informality, integrating these micro-operators into the tax and social security system.
“Therefore, the idea is to bring these people into the formal system”, highlighted Vaz, highlighting that the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the benefits of being formalized.
Asked about the potential risks of abuse or fraud in the system, Liza Vaz assured that the system was designed to mitigate these risks.
The launch session included a practical demonstration of how the platform works, as well as a theater play to illustrate the concept of self-invoicing.
“We are creating a digital tool in a context where there is still a lot of informality and a lack of digital information. It is necessary to bring tools to overcome these gaps and help the digitalization process”, he concluded.
The expectation is that the new tool will simplify the process of issuing electronic invoices for companies of all sizes, contributing to greater formalization of the economy and the widespread adoption of digital technology.
In her speech, Lisa Vaz said that electronic invoicing is already a “great achievement”.
As mentioned, data on implementation, referring to the end of 2023, indicate that 64% of VAT taxpayers active in the register and 21% of those in REMPE have already joined and the Ministry of Finance continues to record the acceleration of adoption of electronic invoicing.
