Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG) forecasts unstable atmospheric conditions in Cape Verde until August 18th, resulting from the passage of successive tropical waves from the west coast of Africa toward the archipelago.
In the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain is expected, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the Sotavento Islands, with greater incidence in Fogo and Santiago.
Starting at midnight on the 17th, the passage of a new tropical wave is expected to cause rainfall of varying intensity, accompanied by periods of increased winds and thunderstorms. The phenomenon will initially affect the Sotavento Islands, as well as Sal and Boavista, gradually expanding throughout the country throughout the day.
INMG recommends special attention in areas that have recently experienced significant rainfall, especially near hillsides and streams, where there is an increased risk of flooding and landslides.
