Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Justice visited the new Santa Catarina Real Estate Registry Office on Thursday, the 16th, and highlighted its importance for accessing documentation and boosting the municipality’s economy.
Joana Rosa emphasized that the new office represents “dignity for Santa Catarina” as a “relatively new” municipality, allowing the local population and those of other municipalities on the island to access all notarial, civil, and commercial registry services, including the issuance of documents such as identity cards, nationality cards, and public registration.
“All notarial services are available here for the residents of Santa Catarina, from marriages to certificates and even services for foreign immigrants. It is a dignified and functional space that will provide convenience and quality service,” she said.
The Minister emphasized that although the Registry currently has an assistant and the support of the registrar/notary of São Filipe, the Government intends to reinforce the team with more human resources, ensuring efficiency and decentralization of services.
The Minister of Justice said that a public tender will be opened to hire more registrars/notaries, but for Fogo Island, she is considering having a registrar/notary in São Filipe who can oversee all the island’s registry offices, whether in Santa Catarina or Mosteiros.
Joana Rosa said that inspection services are required to travel to the various islands to monitor the dynamics of the registry offices, evaluate service delivery, quality, and the time it takes for citizens to access the service. She emphasized that this investment should not be viewed from the perspective of cost, but rather the needs of the population.
“The installation of services is not about financial impact, but about the needs of the citizen. We are prioritizing what the citizen needs, regardless of the cost,” she argued.
The Ministry of Justice expects the presence of this Notary Office to boost a new dynamic in the municipality, contributing not only to improving public services but also to attracting other services such as banks and companies, thus fostering the business environment.
“The establishment of this Registry Office will attract investment, make life easier for citizens, and avoid commuting to São Felipe. We are creating the conditions for services to be closer to people, reducing wait times and increasing the quality of care,” the minister added.
With this new service, the citizens of Santa Catarina do Fogo now have access to modern infrastructure, equipped to provide effective service, bringing the state closer to the population and reinforcing its commitment to local development.
