Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Mosteiros, Fábio Vieira, expressed concern over the situation of the Sumbango stretch of the EN1-FG01 national road as the rainy season approaches and called for special attention from the government.
This stretch of road, which connects the centre with the northern part of the Mosteiros municipality and this with the northern part of São Filipe, has suffered frequent landslides, the last one occurring on 03 March.
The road is still partially blocked due to large blocks of stones that have detached from the rock.
According to Fábio Vieira, the government should be worried about the Sumbango rock because the rainy season is approaching and “if there is no major intervention there is imminent danger of further landslides.
