Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Team will play rounds seven and eight of Group D for the 2026 World Cup qualifying rounds in September. The squad announcement is scheduled for this Friday, August 29, in Praia.

According to a statement from the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), Cape Verde will begin their match against Mauritius on Thursday, September 4, in the seventh round, which will be played at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex Stadium in Mauritius.

In the eighth round, scheduled for September 9, Cape Verde will host Cameroon at the National Stadium in Praia.

The FCF emphasizes that part of the ticket revenue from this match will benefit the island of São Vicente, which was hit by Storm Erin on August 11, resulting in nine fatalities and extensive damage.

The Cape Verde vs. Cameroon match, on September 9, begins at 3:00 PM.

According to the FCF, Cape Verde leads Group D with 13 points, one more than Cameroon and five more than Libya.

According to the FCF, the top-placed teams in each group will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, “while the four best second-placed teams will compete in a knockout round.”
