Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Praia Norte District of the Seventh-day Adventist Church held a program on the first Saturday of 2026, marked by the farewell of the pastoral family led by Pastor Samyles Tavares and the presentation of the new district leadership.
In a statement, the district announced that the program, under the motto “Integrated into the Mission,” included Sabbath School and a divine service, with the highlight being the farewell to Pastor Samyles Tavares and his wife, Carla Tavares, who are concluding their ministry leading the Praia Norte District.
The divine service was led by the president of the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Cape Verde (AIASD-CV), Pastor Natalino Martins, who also presided over the farewell ceremony.
On that occasion, he expressed words of recognition and gratitude to the Tavares pastoral family for their dedication, commitment, and work throughout their ministry in the district.
Pastor Natalino Martins wished success to Pastor Samyles Tavares, who will assume the position of executive secretary of the Western Sahel Missionary Union (UMOS), highlighting the fruits of his service and the positive impact of his leadership.
“On the same occasion, the new pastoral family, composed of Pastor Edson Monteiro and his wife Jaqueline Monteiro, who will lead the Praia Norte District, was introduced and received with the most cordial welcome,” he added.
The program was attended by more than 100 faithful and extended into the afternoon, with the presentation of reports for the year 2025 and the announcement of the strategic plan for the year 2026.
The Board of Directors of the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Cape Verde was fully present at the event, represented by the president, Pastor Natalino Martins, the treasurer, Pastor Natalino Varela, and the executive secretary, Pastor Rudy William Fonseca.
