
Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Director of the Judiciary Police recalled today the first criminal investigation directed at organized crime and drug trafficking in hotels and residences in the capital and the seizure of 42 kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of 28 people.
Ivanilda Varela, who was speaking at the opening of the conference on “The fight against transnational organized crime: The challenges of maritime and port operations”, to mark 30 years of the Judiciary Police (PJ), created on May 12, 1993, stressed that since from this date, the scientific police began to assert itself in the country.
The institution’s assertion, he added, was also due to the fight against drug trafficking, investigation and resolution of complex cases such as thefts, robberies, homicides, sexual crimes and others.
With these works, he noted, came growth at the level of the national territory, and in 1997 73 kilograms of cocaine were seized, in a joint action with the National Police (PN) on the island of Maio.
