Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva will carry out an official mission to Washington, in the United States, from the 27th to the 29th of this month, at the invitation of the World Bank Group promoted in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Cape Verde’s independence.

This initiative, according to a government note, aims to highlight Cape Verde’s “exemplary path” over the last five decades, with “important advances” in terms of economic resilience, governance, tourism and sustainable development.

According to the same source, the aim is also to reflect on future challenges and aspirations and to strengthen the strategic partnership with the World Bank Group.

As a strategic partner in the development of Cabo Verde, the World Bank Group has supported several initiatives in the areas of infrastructure, climate resilience, private sector growth and economic transformation.

This collaboration has been crucial in driving sustainable progress and economic growth in the country.

During this mission, the Prime Minister will hold high-level meetings with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.

The head of government will also participate in the Global GovTech Forum, the African Diaspora Investment Symposium (ADIS 2025) and the “IFC Unplugged – Special Edition Cabo Verde” event, which will address the role of creative industries in economic development.

The highlight of the agenda will also be the opening ceremony of Cape Verde Day, on May 28, which will feature speeches by the Prime Minister, the leadership of the World Bank and the Cape Verdean ambassador, followed by the official inauguration of the Cape Verde Cultural and Tourist Exhibition, with a musical and gastronomic reception.

Cabo Verde Week also includes institutional visits, moments of strategic dialogue with the World Bank’s executive board and cultural activities that project Cabo Verde as a tourist, investment and creativity destination.

This mission, the Government believes, consolidates Cape Verde’s position as a “reference for stability, innovation and sustainable progress in Africa”.
