Santiago: Five ideas will advance to the second stage of the Sustainable Tourism Business Ideas Contest

The University of Cape Verde will host, on the 2nd of May, in auditorium 102, at 9 am, the opening ceremony of the Pre-Incubation training of the ideas selected in the Business Ideas Competition in Sustainable Tourism on the Island of Santiago. The second stage will then go on to 5 ideas that will go to the pre-incubation and incubation phase.

The aforementioned Business Ideas competition, launched by the University of Cape Verde through the Center for Entrepreneurship and Service Provision (CEPS), within the scope of the EMPREATUR Project, includes two stages, the pre-incubation and incubation of business ideas, which will be carried out in three phases: launch of the competition and selection of candidates; one-week face-to-face and online training; monitoring and final evaluation.

In the second stage, a new evaluation will be carried out, in which five business ideas will be chosen that will pass to the pre-incubation and incubation phase, in Uni-CV’s business incubator, Uni-Incuba.

Youth entrepreneurship in tourism

According to a press release, this competition aims to promote young entrepreneurship in terms of tourism, encouraging the generation of innovative and sustainable ideas and businesses on the island of Santiago, presenting specific objectives. Among them, promoting a spirit of initiative, innovation and dynamism in the Cape Verdean population, in particular on the island of Santiago, especially in young people and women, motivating them and “raising their awareness of entrepreneurial practices within the scope of sustainable tourism.

Likewise, it intends to gather business ideas, which will then pass on to a pre-incubation process, called EMPREATUR pre-incubation.

The EMPREATUR project aims to strengthen the ecosystem of the tourism sector on the island of Santiago, through the promotion of entrepreneurship, with the University of Vigo as a special partner, being financed by Spanish Cooperation, through the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development ( AECID), in addition to other partners in the sector.
