Africa-Press – Eswatini. This festive season, the spirit of giving is alive and well in Mbabane West, Zone 1, where Member of Parliament Hon. Jane Mkhonta-Simelane brought smiles to the faces of 500 households, on Monday, December 22, 2025,

She personally handed out food parcels to every family in Zone 1, ensuring that the season of joy reaches every doorstep. The distribution was held at the Mbabane Central High School hall, drawing families eager to celebrate the holiday with dignity and warmth.

“Christmas is a time of giving, and as leaders, I must lead by example,” the MP said. She highlighted that many community members live in areas too small to farm or keep domestic animals, which would normally provide food for the holiday. To address this, she distributed parcels containing 10kg mealie meal, sugar, 2 litres of cooking oil, green bar soap, and cabbages, giving families the essentials to enjoy a meaningful celebration.

Beyond food assistance, Hon. Jane Mkhonta-Simelane encouraged her community to embrace Eswatini’s rich culture and tourism. She urged that residents should participate in the Incwala ceremony as Ayibukelwa.

The Initiative was met with heartfelt gratitude. Wendi Ntfobhi Mkhonta-Dlamini, an elderly resident, said, “This donation brings hope and shows that our MP cares deeply about every family in our community.” Meanwhile, Mphumelelo Sifundza added, “Her example reminds us that leadership is about giving back and encouraging us to embrace our culture and traditions.”

Through this initiative, Hon. Jane Mkhonta-Simelane demonstrates that true leadership is about touching lives, uplifting communities, and inspiring others to celebrate the values of generosity and cultural pride. Her actions remind all Emaswati that the joy of Christmas lies not only in receiving, but in giving and uplifting others.
