Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) hosted the official send-off for 107 young athletes who will represent the Kingdom of Eswatini at the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games in Windhoek, Namibia.

The send-off, held over at the EOCGA offices at Lobamba, marked a significant moment as Eswatini prepares to field its largest-ever delegation at the regional sporting event. Athletes, clad in national colors and full of anticipation, were celebrated by a host of dignitaries and supporters.

Among the notable figures present were EOCGA Chief Executive Officer Maxwell Jele, Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council communications officer Dumisani Ntiwane, EOCGA President Adam Mthethwa and head of Delafation Victor “Mavikane”Dlamini. The leaders took turns to offer words of encouragement, urging the athletes to not only perform at their best but also carry themselves with discipline and integrity.

“We are proud of each and every one of you,” said Jele. “You are ambassadors of our country, and we trust that you will uphold the values of sportsmanship and unity while flying the Eswatini flag high.”

The event was filled with warm cheers and heartfelt farewells, as coaches, and officials waved goodbye to the young stars embarking on their international journey. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, with the recurring message being clear: compete with courage, behave with honor, and return with pride.

Victor Dlamini also added, “Go out there and make your country proud. Play fair, stay focused, and most importantly enjoy the experience.”

The Region 5 Youth Games, which are scheduled to take place from July 3 to July 13, 2025, will bring together athletes from across Southern Africa to compete in various sporting disciplines. Eswatini’s delegation is expected to contest in athletics, football, netball, boxing, and other key events.

The EOCGA reaffirmed its commitment to youth development through sport and wished the team a successful and enriching outing in Namibia.
