Eswatini’s digital future is set to take a bold leap forward as the Ministry of ICT announces the appointment of a new board for the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM). The move signals a fresh approach to governance, centred on innovation, strategic thinking, and citizen focused policies.
Minister of ICT Savannah Maziya tasked the new board with producing strong, globally competitive regulations that protect citizens while remaining friendly to business and supportive of local investors. She emphasised the importance of policies that are forward-looking, globally relevant, and aligned with Eswatini’s economic growth.
Bold Vision from the Chairperson
In his first address as Chairperson, Mr. E. Nathi Dlamini embraced the challenge, stressing that achieving economic and digital progress requires bold, outside the box thinking and the courage to adopt unconventional approaches.“To move the country forward, we need to be outliers even if it seems very strange,” Dlamini said, highlighting the importance of innovation and visionary leadership.
He praised Minister Maziya for her “oversized vision and mission”, noting the Ministry’s extraordinary milestones and pledging the board’s commitment to deliver results that advance Eswatini’s digital and economic future.
Balancing Citizen Protection and Business Growth
The Minister instructed the board to strike a careful balance to safeguard citizens through robust, future ready policies. Support business development while fulfilling the current local business model and attracting investment.This dual mandate ensures ESCCOM remains both responsible and globally competitive, fostering a digital ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
Expertise at the Helm
The new members, who will serve up to three years starting 15 October 2025, bring professional expertise in finance, law, and business oversight:
Chairperson: Mr. E. Nathi Dlamini – CEO, Business Eswatini
Member: Mr. Joseph Waring – Waring Attorneys
Member: Mrs. Loncwala Mahlalela-Ziyane
They join existing members, including ESCCOM CEO Mr. Mvilawemphi Dlamini, Mr. Bheki Ndzinisa (Ministry of Finance), and Ms. Bongiwe Dlamini (Ministry of ICT), forming a team equipped to provide strategic oversight and advisory support to management.
Driving Digital Inclusion and Innovation
The board will continue ESCCOM’s mission to accelerate digital transformation and inclusion. Recent achievements under the Universal Access and Service Fund (UASF) demonstrate the Commission’s commitment:
Ngwane Teachers College Disability Resource Centre providing inclusive digital learning for students with disabilities.
UNESWA Content Studio, a state of the art facility enabling students to engage with the digital economy through innovation and content creation.

Chairperson Dlamini reaffirmed the board’s dedication to building on these initiatives, pledging to provide responsible governance, professional oversight, and results driven leadership. “This board will ensure that ESCCOM remains forward looking, citizen focused, and innovation driven, delivering more than what the country expects,” he said.
