Africa-Press – Eswatini. The 2025 Chevening Scholarship is now open for applications, presenting a golden opportunity for ambitious young Emaswati to pursue fully funded Master’s degree programmes in the United Kingdom.
The announcement was made today August 06,2025 during the launch of a new youth empowerment initiative by the Eswatini Chevening Alumni Association ,held at British Commission, the Royal Villars, Ezulwini.
The initiative, designed to mentor and upskill tertiary students, reflects the growing influence of former Chevening Scholars who are giving back to their communities.
It Funded by the UK Government, the Chevening Scholarship covers tuition, living expenses, return airfare, and provides access to high-level networking and internship opportunities. It is aimed at developing future leaders who will drive positive change in their home countries.
British High Commissioner to Eswatini, Colin Wells, who officiated the launch, encouraged aspiring scholars to seize the opportunity. “This scholarship is not just about earning a degree abroad. It’s about returning equipped to lead, solve local challenges, and inspire change,” he said.
Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and commit to returning home for at least two years after completing their studies. Additional requirements include holding a relevant undergraduate degree, having a minimum of two years of work experience, and not having previously studied in the UK on a government-funded scholarship.
Over the years, many Emaswati have joined the ranks of Chevening Alumni, making tangible contributions in sectors such as governance, education, media, and civil society.
Applications are open through the official website, www.chevening.org, and will close later this year. Prospective candidates are encouraged to start early, thoroughly research their course options, and craft compelling applications to stand out in the competitive global selection process.
With the support of its alumni and the British Embassy, the Chevening programme continues to shape Eswatini’s future leaders one scholar at a time.
