Eswatini Earns Praise for Regional Health Summit

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Republic of Malawi’s Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madalitso Baloyi, has applauded the Government of Eswatini for successfully hosting what she described as a historic and well-organised East, Central and Southern Africa Health Conference.

Baloyi made the remarks during the ongoing 76th ECSA-HC Health Conference at the Happy Valley Resort in Ezulwini.

The Member of Parliament said the conference was an important regional gathering that brought together honourable ministers, senior government officials, regional and global experts, technical specialists, and distinguished delegates, all united by a shared commitment to advancing the health and wellbeing of millions of people across the region.

“Allow me to express my sincere gratitude to the Government of Eswatini for graciously hosting us, and to the Honourable Minister of Health for his unwavering support and warm hospitality,” said Baloyi.

She further acknowledged and thanked delegates who travelled from across Africa and beyond, noting that their presence reflected a strong spirit of regional cooperation and collective action.

Baloyi said the 76th ECSA-HC Health Conference was centred on a theme that is highly relevant to contemporary challenges, particularly in light of climate change, recurring health emergencies, demographic transitions, and shifting global political and economic dynamics.

She added that such platforms were critical in strengthening collaboration and shaping practical solutions to address shared health challenges within the region.

The conference aims to:

Review technical proposals from the Best Practices Forum, Directors, and the Joint Consultative Committee;

Review regional policies and resolutions to guide collective action by member states;

Strengthen collaboration on shared priorities, including workforce development, digital transformation, health financing, climate resilience, and pandemic preparedness; and

Enhance partnerships with continental organisations, development partners, and implementing agencies.

The conference continues to serve as a key platform for advancing regional health integration and sustainable development across East, Central and Southern Africa.
