Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini rolled out the red carpet this evening as it warmly welcomed athletes, coaches, and dignitaries from across Southern Africa to the 2025 Confederation of Southern Africa Schools’ Sports Association (COSSASA) Games.

Speaking at the glittering welcome dinner, hosted in Mbabane, the Ministry of Education and Training expressed His Majesty’s Government’s pride in hosting the prestigious youth sports event, describing it as “a powerful vessel of unity, inspiration, and regional integration.”

One Game, One Dream

This year’s games are held under the theme “One Game, One Dream…United in Motion,” a call that transcends mere competition. The Minister emphasized that sport is a universal language capable of bridging divides and shaping disciplined, visionary, and resilient citizens.

“Our children will run, jump, throw and play, but they will also dream, connect, discover and grow,” the Minister said, highlighting that the games are about forging friendships, inspiring courage, and nurturing ambition beyond borders.

Celebrating Unity and Partnership

The dinner drew officials from across the region, including government representatives, parliamentarians, sports leaders, and international guests. The Ministry commended the joint efforts of the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, the COSSASA Executive Committee, and the Local Organizing Committee for their unwavering dedication to making the games a reality.

“Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to sponsors and development partners, whose investment in school sports demonstrates not only generosity, but belief in Africa’s future,” the Minister noted.

A Kingdom of Warmth and Culture

Eswatini reaffirmed its reputation for hospitality, with the Minister extending a heartfelt invitation for guests to experience the country’s cultural richness, warm smiles, and unforgettable landscapes.

“As a Kingdom, we open our doors not merely to guests, but to brothers and sisters. May this evening ignite a week brimming with joy, fair play, camaraderie, and continental pride,” the Minister concluded.

The Week Ahead

Over the coming days, young athletes from Eswatini, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and other participating nations will compete in a wide range of sporting disciplines. Beyond medals and records, the games promise to celebrate unity, resilience, and the shared dream of a stronger, more connected Africa.
