Africa-Press – Eswatini. Ezulwini United FC has received a major boost ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with the return of veteran midfielder Mpucuko “Smoothies” Dlamini, who has come out of retirement to don the club’s colors once again.
Dlamini had initially retired at the end of the 2024/25 season, a decision the club respected as he transitioned into a role within the technical team. However, after reflection and discussions, both parties agreed that his presence is still needed on the pitch, particularly as a mentor for the club’s young and ambitious squad.
In a statement, Ezulwini United hailed his return as a significant step:
“We are thrilled to have successfully convinced ‘Smoothies’ to dust off his boots and take to the field again. His influence on and off the pitch will benefit the club, especially the young players. Welcome back to our captain fantastic!”
The club also used the occasion to call on supporters in the Ezulwini-Mahlanya corridor to rally behind their “Stingers” as they continue to build one of the strongest brands in Eswatini football. Business organizations and sponsors were further encouraged to back the club’s mission of growth and success.
Dlamini’s comeback is expected to add stability, leadership, and experience to the side, as the Smoothies prepares to inspire another generation of Ezulwini United players while aiming for new milestones in the league.
