Africa-Press – Eswatini. In a major cultural and creative move, Icon PB Music, a leading South African music production house, has opened its doors to Swati producers and artists, calling for collaboration on soundtracks for two popular TV dramas: Uzalo and Ithonga.

The company is owned by Phila Koshin, a proud Liswati, multimedia expert, and Chairperson of the eSwatini Theatre Club. With a career that bridges music, broadcasting, and storytelling, Koshin is on a mission to elevate Swazi talent and bring their sound to international platforms.

“I’ve always wanted Emaswati to win,” says Koshin. “I want them to see music as a professional field where they can flourish and make money from their craft.”

Icon PB Music has become synonymous with some of South Africa’s biggest television soundscapes. The company has produced for renowned shows such as The Wife, Shaka iLembe, Amalanga Awafani, and Isibaya, and holds contracts with top production houses like Stein Glass and Tshedza Productions.

Now, in a deliberate effort to promote cultural exchange and empower local artists, Koshin is calling on Swazi producers to contribute their unique styles and sonic storytelling to upcoming TV scores. The collaboration has already welcomed Swazi talents Mabandla Gama, Subjamz, and Tanele Mnisi, with additional contributions pulled from Icon PB Music’s catalog.

Koshin emphasizes that this is not a signing deal but a creative partnership. “We just want to collaborate,” he says. “What’s important to me is for artists to understand that music isn’t just a hobby, it’s a real industry. They need to know how to protect their work, starting with something as basic as having a publisher who can collect royalties on their behalf.”

He adds that production quality, professionalism, and identity are central to this project. “The music I work on tells people who I am and where I come from. I’d love to influence a sound that Emaswati can be recognized for globally.”

When asked what empowerment looks like in practical terms, Koshin is clear: “It’s when artists are able to take the music industry seriously, to see the value in their own gifts. We like telling stories, not just in film but in music too. And those stories can carry a culture forward.”

Through this initiative, Koshin hopes to raise a new generation of Swazi musicians who understand both the art and business of music.
