Africa-Press – Eswatini. Thabiso Mavuso, the lawyer representing junior police officers has confirmed receiving instructions from junior police officer affiliated to the Royal Eswatini Police Staff Association(REPOSA) to take National Commissioner of Police Vusi Manoma Masango and/ or, Government after Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini announced a three per-cent(3%) salary increment.
Speaking on Thursday afternoon, the lawyer said “the 3% salary increment is in complete defiance of the Supreme Court order directing Government to implement the 2014 Phase two(II) Circular not to award 3% to junior officers” and 8% to senior officers.
“We will also challenge the legitimacy of the agreement signed with individuals who claimed to be representing junior security officers. What happened here is that, the National Commissioner of Police and Correctional Services Commissioner General appointed individuals who signed the agreement claiming to be representing junior officers. The real REPOSA Executive members were not part of these negotiations or signing of the agreement,” said the lawyer.
On another note, the lawyer said, “it had never happened that, an employer can award a higher percentage increase for senior officers and a lower percentage for juniors under the same agreement”.
