Africa-Press – Eswatini. Smiles lit up young faces as the Mbabane West Inkhundla donated 130 pairs of school shoes to children in need from the constituency. The donation event, held at the Mbabane Inkhundla Centre today, was a gesture of care and commitment to improving the lives of school-going children from low-income families.
The event was led by Indluna yenkhundla Mbabane West, Phinda Maziya, who expressed the importance of sharing the blessings they receive as leaders. “I saw it fit for me to take what iNgwenyama is giving us and share it with you,” he said as he warmly welcomed the beneficiaries.
The children, drawn from different schools within the constituency, beamed with joy as they tried on their new school shoes, many of them receiving such a gift for the first time. The shoes are expected to improve their school experience, offering comfort and dignity.
Parents were also in attendance and expressed their heartfelt gratitude. “These shoes will make a big difference. Some of us are struggling financially and cannot afford to buy shoes for our children,” said one parent.
Wamkelo Masina, a learner from Ntuthukweni Primary School, also thanked the Inkhundla on behalf of the pupils. “Most of our parents are unemployed. We are very thankful for this donation,” he said.
Nomcebo Dlamini from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, representing the Social Welfare Department, thanked the Inkhundla for its kind gesture. She also used the platform to educate children on the importance of speaking out against abuse, urging them to report any mistreatment they may encounter.
Also speaking during the event was Constable Siphiwe Kunene from the Royal Eswatini Police Services under the Community Safety. She advised the children on safety tips, warning them not to talk to strangers or accept gifts and money from unknown individuals.
The donation drive not only provided much-needed footwear, but also brought the community together in a show of unity, care, and responsibility. The Mbabane West Inkhundla reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community and uplifting the lives of children through practical, impactful action.
