Africa-Press – Eswatini. The spirit of Christmas arrived early in Zombodze this week as Montigny Investments extended a helping hand to vulnerable elderly residents, donating food parcels to over 15 elders from the NND Farm community under the Nhlangano Nil Desperandam Farm area.
The donation, made on Wednesday December 10, 2025 formed part of the company’s festive season outreach programme aimed at supporting vulnerable members of communities surrounding its operations.
The beneficiaries, most of whom rely on subsistence farming and social grants, received essential groceries including mealie meal, cooking oil, beans and sugar.
The food parcels are intended to ease food insecurity during the festive season and ensure that elderly residents are able to celebrate Christmas with dignity, comfort and peace of mind.
The handover was led by Montigny Investments Principal Consultant and company representative Mashumi Shongwe, accompanied by Community Liaison Officer Mnqobi Mkhonta, with support from officers of the Nhlangano Police Station and local community leaders.
Speaking during the event, Shongwe said the initiative reflected Montigny Investments’ continued commitment to supporting communities that coexist with the company’s operations.
“As Montigny Investments, we believe in giving back to the communities that support and protect our work. These elders are the backbone of this community, and it is important for us to ensure that they enjoy the festive season with dignity,” said Shongwe.
He added that the donation also served as a token of appreciation to residents for their role in safeguarding the company’s plantations from veld fires, illegal grazing and stray livestock, noting that community cooperation had helped reduce losses in recent years.
Addressing the gathering, ACP Regional Operations Officer Bhekani Khumalo commended the partnership between the community, police and the private sector. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue reporting suspicious activities, particularly in light of rising cases of livestock theft affecting farms in border areas.
Community leaders and elderly beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to Montigny Investments, describing the donation as timely and impactful. They said the gesture had restored hope, reduced anxiety around the festive season and brought joy to families facing ongoing economic hardship.
